Here is a view Taken from the bottome of Kilsture Forest looking out onto the Galloway hills, late afternoon one very cold & frosty January Day.
A frosty full moon over the Galloway hills
Another frosty view looking down the drive to the Galloway hills.
Within a few minutes drive we have the stunning Galloway house, Garlieston. The following few pictures are of the Gardens.
Front view of Galloway House at Garlieston
The rhododendrons here at Garlieston Gardens are stunning when in bloom.
The whole garden is literally full of specimen rhododendrons, azaleas, etc.
Massive mature oaks, Limes, Beech, Scots pine, Palms, Ferns, Monkey puzzle trees, and quite a few I have no idea what they are called.
Here at Galloway gardens we have a Gunnera, or Giant rhubarb on the pathway leading to Rigg Bay,
were the Mulberry Harbour was constructed for D Day landings in Normandy WW2.
If you look into the distance you can see Rigg Bay.
View 1 of Rigg Bay, accessed through Galloway house gardens, looking over to The Galloway Hills.
View 2 of Rigg Bay looking towards The Solway Firth & Cumbria
View of Garlieston from the Harbour quay.
View of the Crescent & Bowling green at the sea front at Garlieston looking towards the harbour
Same position but looking slightly to the left showing the harbour & quay.
Same position again looking straight out over the Solway Firth to Cumbria
There are many places to go walking, our favourite is Kilsture forest walk.
Here is a photo in spring, of the Bluebells in Kilsture Forest, located between Kirkinner & Sorbie.
